FLS and Barnett Associates Announce New Product Interface

Industry Leaders Collaborate to Make Unemployment Compliance Data More Accessible

DALLAS, TEXAS - 4/29/04 - Federal Liaison Services, Inc., a premier provider of employer compliance software and services, and Barnett Associates, a leading provider of unemployment tax consulting services, today announced the delivery of a new interface to facilitate the export of data from FLS software into Barnett reporting formats.

Beginning with its 2004.1 release of FLS eDP.PAYROLLtax™, FLS has included two new exports for Barnett's clients. These exports comply with Barnett file layout specifications and allow users to export quarterly state unemployment insurance (SUI) information and Federal 940 tentative credit information.

The two new data exports are:

  • Quarterly Unemployment Insurance Export: Contains itemized information from the quarterly unemployment insurance contribution reports (returns) and includes data for all of the appropriate tax types. Tax types included in the export are:
    • Unemployment Insurance
    • Unemployment Insurance Special Assessment
    • Training Tax (Special Assessment)
    • Surtax (Special Assessment)
    • Workforce Development Tax (Special Assessment)
    • Rhode Island Re-employment Security Fund (Special Assessment)
    • Health Insurance (except Massachusetts HI)
    • State Disability Insurance (except California PDI)

    Information in the export includes:

    • Gross, taxable, and excess wages
    • Tax rates
    • Due amounts
    • Paid amounts
    • Employee counts
  • Annual 940 Tax Credits Export: Contains the data that appears in Part II of Federal Form 940 for computation of the tentative credit. Information in the export includes:
    • State abbreviation
    • State EIN
    • Taxable payroll
    • State experience rate period
    • State experience rate
    • Contributions if rate had been 5.4%
    • Contributions payable at experience rate
    • Additional credit
    • Contributions paid to state by 940 due date
